Here’s another reason not to build the Cleveland Incinerator: most of Cleveland’s trash can be recycled.
Gasification IS Incineration: In the United States, the definition of “municipal waste combustor” (trash incinerator) includes gasification and pyrolysis.
“Most of these Facilities have huge cost over-runs…when the trash plant closed [in Columbus] in 1994 it was $160 million in debt, and that was a debt that the citizens had to continue to pay.”
